BLUEBELL Securities Co., Ltd. has achieved strong growth, rising to the 5th position among securities firms in terms of debenture distribution, according to the Thai Bond Market Association’s data as of April 2024. With a total distribution value of 3,272 million baht, the company has set a goal to finish the year in the Top 5 with a target of 15,000 million baht in sales.

The TAA debentures (secured debentures of Thai AirAsia Co., Ltd. No. 1/2024, maturing in 2026, with an early redemption option for the issuer) saw a significant number of subscription requests in a very short time in early May. This has strengthened our belief that we will maintain our position as a Top 5 securities firm in debenture distribution through the end of 2024.
To support this growth, we are also expanding our secondary market debenture trading services, led by Ms. Suthatip Minipan, Director of the Secondary Debt Instruments Department. This service provides opportunities for investors who missed the initial public offering to invest in debentures on the secondary market. It also allows investors to increase liquidity before the instrument matures and manage risk by rebalancing their investment portfolios.

Ms. Sitrasa Boon-long, Chief Marketing Officer, added that based on BLUEBELL’s analysis of the Thai debt market, the first quarter of 2024 saw a slowdown in corporate debenture issuance compared to last year. This was attributed to the high interest rates in Thailand.
However, the market is expected to rebound and become more active from the second quarter onwards. This is due to the likelihood that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will signal a more accommodative monetary policy and initiate its first interest rate cut from 2.50% to 2.25%. We also anticipate increased economic stimulus from the government, which will improve the overall outlook for the Thai economy. These factors are beneficial for debenture issuers and should lead to a more vibrant debenture market for the rest of the year.
If interest rates in Thailand are reduced, investors may see lower interest rates from new debenture investments. A good alternative for portfolio diversification is to invest in domestic fixed-income mutual funds, as they stand to benefit from an increase in their Net Asset Value (NAV) when market interest rates fall.
